Hi!

On my piwik wishlist is the possibility to add more parameters for custom events, then just category, action, name and value.

Also, while I’m at it → here’s a few other things I’m hoping for in the future:

1. **Multiple workspaces** to work in, in Tag Manager - to being able to test and collaborate in a smoother, more secure way.
2. **Enhanced debugger** - being able to easier see which tags fired and not (instead of scrolling and searching for them) also, being able to se why a tag fired or not (like in GTM)
3. Possibility to make **calculations in dashboards** , as one can do in looker studio. For ex, in a new scorecard C to show the sum of scorecard A plus scorecard B.
4. Seeing **which tags a trigger is used on** - not just “used on 2 tags”
5. **Specific changelog of tags/variables/triggers.** Being able to see (in the tag/trigger/variable) when a tag was created/edited.
6. Being able to **clear the workspace/changelog** - to eliminate clutter. Ex, if I change a tag, and imediately change it back - this now is clutter in changelog. I’ll have to publish to make it “reset”.

Thank you guys! 😀

Hi @Dataguy,

I’ll add all the feature requests mentioned.

In regards to: **More parameters for custom events**
You can use both [_custom dimensions_](https://help.piwik.pro/support/reports/custom-dimension/) as well as [_custom variables_](https://developers.piwik.pro/en/latest/data_collection/web/javascript_tracking_client/api.html#custom-variables) (disregard the deprecated note as this feature will not be deprecated and our new version of documentation will not have this note) to expand that list. Both of them will allow you add more columns of data to custom events.

Best,
Oliwer

Hi @Dataguy,

Regarding the Enhanced Debugger, we’re working on some updates in the upcoming weeks. Stay tuned 🙂

Hi @Oliwer_Kaczmarek ,

I thought that custom variables were legacy objects from the old Piwik open source project, and that they were replaced by custom dimensions.

If custom variables are not deprecated, what exactly should we use them for? What is the reasoning for having both custom dimensions and custom variables?

Thank you!
João

Although custom dimension were made to replace custom variables, they are not the same.
Custom variables give you access to 5 variables in which you can specify what key, value and the scope is.
Custom dimensions give you access to up to 200 event and 200 session dimensions in which you can specify the value.

Custom dimensions are easier to use in Analytics and much more columns of data while custom variables give you higher flexibility in regard to what each custom variable holds (as the key and scope can be changed with ease at any moment, and can be used for different things in different events/sessions)

Both of them can be used to append the list of values single custom event have. With custom variables you have up to 5 variables which you can add and with custom dimensions you have 200 event dimensions and 200 session dimensions.

Best,
Oliwer
