# New Channel of AI Referral versus source/medium

Hello community,

I’m now seeing “AI referral” as a new channel (yay!), but am noticing that not all visits from ChatGPT are being categorized under that channel. Here’s the data for one of my client sites for October:

AI referral sessions - 21, which covered the following source/medium combinations:

[chatgpt.com](http://chatgpt.com) / referral  
chatgpt / referral  
google gemini / referral  
microsoft copilot / referral  
perplexity / referral

Another 15 sessions had the source/medium of [chatgpt.com](http://chatgpt.com) / direct. This is likely because when linking to a website from a chat in ChatGPT, the only UTM appended is “source = [chatgpt.com](http://chatgpt.com)”

It would be great if Piwik Pro converted this source/medium combo into [chatgpt.com](http://chatgpt.com) / referral
