We have multiple Sites, each with similar setups, so the same Custom Reports often make sense in them.
What happens often though: I copy a report to all sites, but then I have to edit it. Which means: There is no way to edit it in all sites at once, so I have to go into each of our 25 sites and edit it there. Nobody likes doing this. So there are plenty of other sites with outdated reports.
The other option is to delete it everywhere and then edit it in once place and again copy it. That changes the URL of the report though.
Is there not at least a way through the API to handle this so that a medium-to-large enterprise customer can actually work without wasting so much time with stuff like this? Piwik wants to be an enterprise solution. Start right there!
Hi Lukas,
Thanks for pointing this out, I made sure that your feedback was passed to our team. Unfortunately, there is no workaround I can propose to you, but I created a feature request
That’s sad. Thanks anyway.
That may or may not match your use case (for example because of site permissions) but you could put all those sites into a meta site, have reports defined in there, and also have segments that allow you to choose for which website you’re viewing the data within the meta site I hope I described that clearly, cheers!
Thanks. While they are overall a nice feature and the client even uses them for some stuff, I have some issues with Meta Sites (Piwik Pro: To Meta or not to Meta | by Lukas Oldenburg | Oct, 2024 | The Bounce), but the most important thing is that the Reports are in separate sites for the main reason that people from Site A are not allowed to see data from Site B. So if they suddenly all had access to a Meta Site where they could see all data from all sites, that would be a bit of a problem to say it mildly…
Gotcha, usually that’s the case… #permissionsforsegments
