The field 'Value' in a custom event can only be integer?

Hi,
Is the field ‘Value’ in Tag manager only allowed to be a integer? Or can a string be used there also?

I’m getting some errors regarding this field ‘tracking parameter e_v has invalid value’.
Maybe a notice in the tag manager under this field can prevent people from using strings or variables (that can be other than integer) to be used there.
