Cross domain tracking: segmenting

Hello
My colleague has created a new instance for our rebranding: friendsofcartel.piwik.pro
We now consist of 4 expert agencies, that are all tracked with 1 code using cross domain tracking.

I added segments to know data from all separate websites, using a segment that is created with Session Entry Url and than using all separate domains. Is this the best way to go? Need your expert advice here .

Hello @jurgen.vandevelde

It all depends - if you want to check data about sessions that started on specific website then “Session Entry URL” would be a way to go. That would be useful for checking ie. sources of traffic for sessions that came to agency A website.

Remember that if you filter data this way, and someone goes to domain B, the page views will be still visible if they were in same session that started on filtered domain A. Same goes for events and conversions - if someone starts on domain A and does conversion on domain C it will be visible with that filter.

So in short answer - yes - you can filter it like that, but remember that you are tracking everything as one. Big plus of your setup is that you see real flow between websites and how they work together.

One more additional tip, you can filter just domain if you click filter variable name again:
