Currency translation for Ecom on International Website

Hi,

We have an international website that is live on 20+ markets with different currencies. Most markets use EUR but some have their own specific currency such as GBP, USD, SEK etc.

If we active Ecommerce tracking for all markets, will the different currencies be translated to the chosen currency in the property/reporting? In this specific case EUR.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,
the currency in the reports will be always the one that is set up in the website settings, without being converted at the current exchange rate.

Hi @pwachala ,

Thanks for the fast reply!

If I understand you correctly, then if a transaction/purchase have been made with a revenue value of 100 GBP on the site, the revenue in the Ecommerce report will be 100 EUR if that is the chosen setting for the property?

And if that is the case, is their any best practice or suggested setup/structure for international ecommerce websites? So we can see the correct currency in the reports for each locale. For this particularly website it is on one domain with locales divided on subfolders.

You could use segments and base them on the country, session entry URL, or you could add a custom session dimension with information on which currency was used by a Visitor and base segments on that information.
This way, you could see orders for each currency separately, although the currency shown in the report will be the one set in administration, so have that in mind. (e. g. when you create a segment for GBP, then you will see all orders that used GBP, but in reports, the currency shown next to the order value will still be “EUR” (if that’s your setup in administration) even though the order value is in GBP)
