Google Ads Drops Piwik Pro Conversion Support – GA4 Only Now!

Hi!

I noticed that Google Ads has changed and no longer supports importing conversions from Piwik Pro. Conversions can now only be imported from GA4. This is a significant drawback, especially as Piwik Pro moves toward its paid version. The new interface looks like this.

Any updates on this on Piwik side?

The old interface:

Also a question: do the old conversions still work - because it seems that the numbers have been decreasing steadily from Piwik. :frowning:

Hi @analyticskeener!
The UI looks different now, but you can still send conversions. Here is what you need to do:
On the list of conversion types select the last option - “Conversions offline”.

Click on “save and continue button”. On the next view select what events you want to track. I went with Sign-up.

On the next screen you can edit conversion action name and its monetary value by clicking on “Edit settings”. When you’re happy with the action, click “Save and continue”.

On the last screen click “finish”. You don’t need to define a source, as PiwikPRO sends data to google over Google Ads API.

Initially Google Ads will say that the conversion action is misconfigured or inactive. Don’t worry about that, conversions uploads will work. You should now see the conversion action on the list in PiwikPRO.

@analyticskeener When it comes to the number of conversions sent, there are many factors that can influence conversion uploads. I would start by comparing the number of conversions sent (available in “activation log” tab) with the number of visitors from google campaigns (custom report showing count of gclid values). To effectively send conversions in EU region, you need consent to conversion tracking.

Thank you! I will try this
