Conversion Discrepancy Between Google Ads and Piwik Pro

Hi everyone,

Since our transition from GA4 to Piwik Pro, we’ve noticed a consistent discrepancy in conversion tracking. Piwik Pro is showing more conversions from paid CPC than what we see reported within Google Ad. Our conversion goal is form submission on website.

Could anyone please advise on the possible reasons behind this discrepancy?

Additionally, we’d appreciate your guidance on which data source we should consider more accurate for reporting and optimisation purposes.

How did you set up the goal in Piwik PRO? There are a couple of reasons why you might see discrepancies between two tools: different attribution models, tracking methodology, privacy settings or GCLID matching.

In general comparing data using different tools will always lead to certain deviations. Each tool runs on an independent engine to process the data and also uses a different approximation algorithm.

Good question. I’ve teamed up with my marketing agency IO Digital to help with the process. Because GA4 works in another way, we need to look carefully into the processed data. I’ve started working on a measurement plan, so my transition from GTM will also works smooth to PPTM.

Our website didn’t focused really on goals, so therefore the move to Piwik Pro isn’t that bad. We will own that space here :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
