Tracking visitors who've shared my webpage on Facebook

I need to track how long a visitor, who has shared my webpage on Facebook, spends on the said webpage. How do I do this?

Thanks!

Hi there!

For learning how much a visitor spends on a specific page - we have the time on page metric available in Piwik PRO. In the Pages report, you can easily see the average time that visitors spend on each page.

How do you plan on knowing which visitors shared your page on Facebook? Is it something you’ve implemented already?

Hi Sara,

Thanks for your reply.

“How do you plan on knowing which visitors shared your page on Facebook? Is it something you’ve implemented already?”

That’s actually what I meant to ask for help with here. I know about Piwik’s time on page metric, but I wondered if anyone had any ideas about how to ‘connect’ it to visitors who have shared my webpage on Facebook.

How does the sharing work on your website? Is there a button that lets the visitor share a page? Does it redirect directly to Facebook, or is it more like a pop-up?

There are no share buttons on the website. I just post webpages manually to my Facebook page (as Facebook posts), and the webpages are shared from there.

Alright, in this case I don’t think we are able to track the shares, since it all happens on Facebook’s side. You could look into referrer or channel to have an idea of how many people come from those FB posts, but we are not able to track who shared the pages.
