How to avoid Visitor ID cookie, but keep Session ID with GTM?

Hi :slight_smile:
I’m using GTM.

When I install Piwik Pro through the GTM template I get both Visitor ID and Session ID cookies.
When I install Piwik Pro as a container through custom HTML in GTM, I get neither Visitor ID or Session ID cookies.

In my settings I’ve disabled Visitor ID, and enabled Session ID - how do I get that to actually happen? (I’m testing in incognito)

Hope I’m just doing something stupid, but I’ve followed all the guides I could find :confused:

Does the tag manager debugger open when you install it through custom HTML? Let’s start with that check. Check also browser’s console for potential JavaScript errors.

BTW. what are your settings in the tag manager part? Keep in mind that the GTM template by default doesn’t use our Tag Manager which configures cookies. So most likely you disabled cookies via the interface (either in Administration or Tag Manager → Piwik PRO tag).

Hi Kuba,

I checked the tracking today and it looks like it works - I did have a console error saying I had double up on disabled cookies, so I fixed that :slight_smile:
