Hello,
So far in August, My instance for worthingtonjewelers has reached 121% of our 50K monthly actions limit because of traffic from Singapore, accounting for 85% of sessions so far. We do business only in Columbus, Ohio. Please let me know how to block this spam traffic (which began on August 17) and, also, not get penalized for it!
Hi David, have you found any correlation between these sessions that would allow you to identify this traffic? In Piwik PRO you can block a specific user agent or IP address range.
Hi Sara,
600 different ip addresses so far across multiple “roots:” 43.119, 47.82, etc…
How would I block a specific user agent?
AND, please clarify how this affects the billing. I don’t want to be punished for run-away spam.
User agent can be checked in the tracker debugger. This icon lets you see the raw request where you can find the user agent:
How it affects the billing - if you were automatically moved to a higher tier, there are options to downgrade if it was a one-time instance or after the user agent / IP addresses are blocked.
And just like that, it’s gone and there’s nothing in tracker debugger today:
