From Octobre 9th onwards our general bounce rate (all pages included) increased up to 5%.
The date could be matched to the change of session recognition.
So here comes the question: does the change in sessions recognition impact the bounce rate? If so, is the current bounce rate accurate?
What the change does is if the Visitor during the session changes their UserID (which is set by you manually) the session will be split. I would not connect the change of user recognition to the bouce rate change unless your setup assigns userID value on the entry page view and can change it before next page view occurs.
Thank you for your reply. If the change of user recognition is not to be link to the bounce rate change, is there any other change in Octobre 2023 which might have impacted the bounce rate?
Our definition of bounces is: the number of sessions during which visitors viewed an entry page but didn’t continue to another page view, goal conversion or ecommerce conversion. If a visitor performs a download, search or other custom event and leaves the entry page, the session is counted as a bounce.
Were there any changes in your tracking setup or tag manager that would for example remove a goal conversion, or is there any reason why a session could’ve been split after first page view?
