Hello there,
The below two widgets show the bounce rate for the same page:
For the first widget the selected page is filtered with the page URL metric while the second widget shows the page filtered with the session entry URL metric.
How to explain the difference in values? From my understanding of the bounce rate, these values should be closer together than showing much difference.
What is going on?
Kind regards,
Jérôme
Edit: the metric page bounce rate should be a better metric in this case. I have put them side by side and added the filter to show only results for the same page or same session entry. However the difference between bounce rate on session entry and page url, still seems strange.
Hi Jérôme,
Could you give me the detailed filters that you put on the widgets?
Hello @sararekowska ,
These are the details:
- I notice the table editor directly takes the meta title instead of the actual URL. For clear understanding, I insert the full URL in the filters.
I give you a bit more context. The homepage’s bounce rate recently rose significantly without any change to the homepage, any change in traffic through the channels or any other change. So now I trying to fit the pieces together to have a decent understanding of the rising bounce rate of the homepage.
Hey @sararekowska,
After checking the bounce rate on different devices or different channels and comparing it to the number of sessions, it is still a mistery why the bounce rate of a specific page (our homepage) is still relatively high.
No other changes have been applied in certain campaigns or other changes to the page itself.
Would you have an insight on this or maybe explain the difference between the widgets?
Many thanks!
